Indian cricket team needed 22 off
the last 12 balls to win the final T20 international against Australia. It
looked like a cakewalk, but Shane Watson, who was leading Australia in the last
match of the series, bowled a brilliant 19th over where he conceded just five
runs.
17 runs were needed off the last six balls and Yuvraj was
finding it difficult to time the ball. By the end of the penultimate over, the
southpaw had scored five runs off nine balls and fans were reminded of his
struggle in the final of last ICC World Twenty20.
But as Andrew Tye came to bowl the last over of the innings,
this is what happened off the last six balls:
19.1: First ball was bowled at Yuvi's pads and he flicked it
past fine leg for a boundary.
13 needed off 5
19.2: Second ball was another half-volley and Yuvraj
hammered it over deep midwicket for a Six!
7 needed off 4
19.3: Tye tried an off-cutter, Yuvraj couldn't connect it
with the bat but Raina was quick to steal a bye.
6 needed off 3
19.4: Tye did well there to bowl a yorker, but Raina worked
it down the leg side and another couple of runs were scored.
4 needed off 2
19.5: Under pressure, Tye bowled a full-toss and Raina
worked it past square leg, it looked like it would go for a boundary and Raina
started to celebrate, but it didn't and another couple of runs were scored.
2 needed off 1
19.5: Raina was offered width off the last ball and he
cleared the fielder at covers for the wininng runs!
Even though Raina hit the winning runs, but those two shots
in the beginning of the final over relieved a lot of pressure which allowed
Raina to go for his strokes.
